Equipment.

We have our own lap-top, projector and screen for the first two talks, and we'll bring our instruments for 'Strangers on the Shore'.

In a large venue we will need amplification with two microphones and stands.

We'll need a few minutes to set everything up.

Talks for groups

We enjoy the opportunity to talk to groups of people about genealogy or history. Over the past few years we've given talks to thousands of people at a variety of forums, including Probus Clubs, Senior Citizen Groups and other community organisations.

Our most popular talks are:

Stepping Stones to the Past. (30-45 mins) An introduction to tracing your own family history using resources available here in Western Australia. The talk covers:

  • Getting started
  • The basics of family history
  • BDMs (Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates) - the first stepping stones
  • Census records
  • Church records
  • Telling your story

Telling your story. (30-45 mins) How to go about publishing a book or making a documentary video about your life story. Includes samples from some of our recent DVDs.

Strangers on the Shore. (45-60 mins) True stories and songs from Western Australia's dramatic Maritime past -- shipwrecks, survival, heroes, villains, pirates, triumph and tragedy. History in song - all composed and performed by Mike and Lesley from their acclaimed CD 'Strangers on the Shore'.
