About us...

TimeTrackers is a family-owned genealogical and historical research business based in Fremantle, Western Australia. Founded by Lesley Silvester in 2000, she is now being assisted in the business by her husband Mike Murray.

Lesley and Mike have helped over a thousand clients begin the quest for their past through their regular start-up and internet workshops. TimeTrackers has produced a book and a video to help beginners who can't (or don't want to) attend training workshops.The video will shortly be updated and reissued as a DVD.

TimeTrackers carries out extensive genealogical research work for clients throughout Australia and overseas. Where records are unable to be accessed in WA, we have a network of overseas associates who can undertake research for our clients.

Mike has a keen interest in writing, design, layout, filming and computing. Mike looks after the publishing and film-making side of TimeTrackers, and, since Lesley has been studying practically full-time recently, Mike is now carrying out most of the research work for clients.

Lesley has a BA in Archaeology (Sydney), a Grad Dip in Cultural Heritage (Curtin), a Masters in Medieval and Early Modern Studies (UWA) and is currently studying for her PhD at the University of Western Australia. Her Masters dissertation used genealogical methodologies to extend our understanding of history, examining some families in 17th century London. Her PhD will continue this genealogical theme, concentrating on poor families in 16th and 17th century Norwich.

During Lesley's post-grad studies she worked closely with the WA Maritime Museum and developed a data base of WA shipwrecks where survivors had contact with Aboriginal peoples. Arising out of this project, Mike and Lesley (who are both singer-songwriters) produced a CD of original songs about Western Australia's rich and dramatic maritime history.
