Myra writes: Hi Mike! Great to hear from you and sorry about the late reply. For someone who has spent a lifetime teaching English I've always been a lousy communicator. I blame my advancing years now rather than my natural laziness besides which using the computer means moving away from the telly and THE OPEN is on!!
Firstly, let me say that I definitely mean to attend the reunion and will bring my long suffering other half and will e-mail Lily as soon as I finish this.

Myra's Story

I have lived on the outskirts of Dundee since 1967 (how unadventurous!) after coming to teach in the town's first comprehensive school and missed having Bill Morrison as my head of dept. by a whisker. He had just moved away. Probably heard I was coming!

I married a geography teacher called Douglas Forrest in 1966 ( an essential move if I ever wanted to get to anywhere as Sharky failed miserably to teach me to read a map) and we have two daughters, one married and the other still foot loose and fancy free.

My father died very suddenly in 1971 and the following year my mother moved down here so I more or less lost touch with the North.

We both took early retirement in 1996 when we became increasingly disenchanted with the Scottish Education System and have never regretted it. When the girls were young we used to spend our long summer holidays touring France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc. with our caravan which was great fun. We still caravan but tend to make the trips shorter now although the new ferry link from Rosyth to Zeebrugge may encourage us to get going again.

Retirement has given us the chance to do more long haul travel and we have been to Australia (agree with everything you say about Sydney) New Zealand, Canada etc. and both want to emigrate everywhere now but have left it a bit too late. We just have to read the web stories and dream.
Anyway, really looking forward to August 10th and doing some more catching up.

Myra
