Comments about the 2002 reunion

We'll never have as good a night as that in 5 years. Was part of the magic not the very long time since we had met? I was sorry I didn't get to talk to you very much, but it was such fun and so intense. june

It was a great night and Barbara and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was fantastic meeting all these people most of whom I had not seen for 44 years, and I RECOGNISED them; well most of them !! Little Bill.

Thanks, Mike and Lesley, and for all you both did to make it SUCH a SUCCESSFUL evening!!!! I simply LOVED it, and wished and wished and wished that I could have taken all of you there home with me!!!!! I'm longing to see the video and any photos of the evening now, and , personally, I would go anywhere to meet up with all of you again in the future! I felt that we were all there because we WANTED to be, and we WANTED to meet up again, and this is what made it such a happy night! Catherine Joan

I enjoyed meeting you and all the others - renewing acquaintances in some cases. The re-union was an inspired idea and we doubt if any negative crits could be made- unless to say the time passed too quickly before we went our separate ways again. Hopefully that will encourage us to keep in more regular touch with people. We would have enjoyed more music too - I don't think we heard you in solo mode. That can be remedied next time!
I think you must have been a unique class with dynamic personalities and diverse talents! I appreciated being able to enjoy it 40 years on! Joan (and Donald)

Anyway, generally speaking, I thought the event was a great success and would certainly be interested in repeating it in, say 5 years. Scott

What a delight to meet everyone. A recent article I read said such events are best avoided but I reckon that we must have been an OK bunch because I thought it was just great. Sadly, not enough time. Dot

Now that Jack & I have an e-mail address we would just like to add our thanks to you & Lily for arranging such a super evening last month. It was hard to believe 42yrs had elapsed - more like 10!
It really was nice to meet up with everyone & I do hope we can keep in touch. Look forward to any further news. Elizabeth B.

Angela and I wish to say thankyou for a great evening. At dinner we sat with a group who had first gone to school together in Hilton School in 1946.The night was too short to meet everyone. Well there is always next time. Tom

Hi Mike and Lesley
I am just back from the States so this is the first chance I've had to say how much I enjoyed the reunion. Only one complaint - too short. The next one should be a weekend!! Everything went so well - It didn't feel like 42 years + (in some cases) since we met last. Thanks again from Tommy and myself for all your input
Kindest regards
Elizabeth (MacLeod/Gough)

I admit I was nervous at first, especially when the manager sprung the new price on me! But everyone was really good about that! It was great to see everyone after all those years and having previous information beforehand really helped (thanks Mike). Wasn't it amazing how recogniseable everyone was and nobody looked 60! (I know you weren't Isobel) (Editor's note...neither am I. Mike) I had a great time and didn't come down to earth for about two weeks! Charlie also loved meeting all those people he's been hearing about for the last 38 years. He thinks we're really lucky being part of such a nice (sorry Miss Young) bunch of people. Thank you all for coming. Love from Lily

I was looking forward to it enormously, after being in touch with so many of you over the weeks and months beforehand. I was expecting some initial hesitancy and foot shuffling awkwardness. But there wasn't any. It turned out to be just a great party! We have some great video shots of people nervously arriving at the door of the lounge, looking in and then their faces lighting up as they realise that there are people there that they know, and recognise! Like everyone, I didn't feel we had enough time for nattering and real conversation with everyone I wanted to. I don't think that the night could have gone much longer, but I agree with the idea of a weekend. And we're now inspired to stay in contact and maybe organise a trip differently to call in on some of you in the future! Mike

I enjoyed every minute of the reunion and would certainly vote for a rerun in the not too distant future although I realise some people have vast distances to travel. Myra

I enjoyed the reunion very much and confounded many people who predicted disaster! I think the secret of our success, as far as i'm concerned, is that I liked everyone in the class when we were at school, and this carried through the years to the reunion. Malcolm

My last lot of visitors have gone so I can reflect on our reunion. It was a very special night and such an emotional one.It was so exciting to see everyone and meet the partners. It was like suddenly acquiring a new warm, caring family. The evening was too short but Mike's web site has enabled us to extend the time together. I have photographs to send but I think we are missing a few addresses e.g.Frankie, Big Bill and Donald Tarrell.
Hopefully we can have another reunion before we get too ancient but it is so nice to be in touch with everyone-again, thanks to Mike and Lesley.
Thankyou Lily for all your hard work, it was a great success - you can do the next one too!
Hopefully Stewart, Gay, Bobby and Walter have felt they were part of the reunion too.
Keep in touch,
Isobel (and Allan)

...and a couple of comments from some who were there in spirit, if not in the flesh:

Have received the video - thank you for sending it so quickly - and have viewed it a couple of times. I think I have been able to pick out most people, in fact, I am pretty sure of all the "girls"?? except for one - an attractive lady wearing a purple top/jacket whom I assume to be Lesley. Let me know if I am right. Just thought she looked like an Aussie.
Actually I found that making the connection using only the memory I had from our schooldays was quite difficult in some cases and surprisingly easy in others. Myra, Scott, Big Bill, June, Elizabeth B. and David were the easiest to pick. I don't think I'd have recognised anyone else without the assistance of the photos on the web site.
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in in creating and maintaining the web site. I really think that was what inspired us to take up the idea and run with it. The almost instantaneous response we got from the internet site gave us the motivation so "good on you" and thanks again. Gay

Thanks very much for including me in the mailings. I have taken great delight in viewing the pictures and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the crew and reading the responses to the grand "do". If a repeat is considered in five years time, Gayle and I shall try very hard to attend - childrens' weddings permitting! Stewart
