Startup workshop

one-on-one (or small group), East Fremantle

Beginners, or those who have done a little research and are stuck

This workshop focuses on your specific research plans and will briefly cover these topics:
• research basics
• getting started
• accessing BDMs
• census, IGI and
parish records
• organising your research

Approx 2.5 hours, timed to suit you

Cost $80 (includes copy of the book 'Tracing your Past' and personal folder)

Internet workshop

one-on-one (or small group), East Fremantle

Family historians who want to make best use the Internet to help their research. You'll need to know basics of genealogy and be familiar with computers to get the best out of this workshop

Hands-on guidance, including
• what's available on the internet
• what's not available
• mailing lists, surname lists and lookups
• getting the best out of the IGI
• really useful websites (pay sites and free)

Approx 2 hours, timed to suit you

Cost $80 (includes internet access and comprehensive notes)

Country workshops

Group sessions with 6 to 10 participants, regional Telecentres

Country people who want to find out how to trace their family tree and how to use the internet to help them (you'll need to be familiar with computer basics)

The basics of family history research, followed by two hours on the computer

Four hours (usually 10 to 2.30 with a lunch break)

Talk to your local Telecentre to contact us about a suitable date

Specific workshops

Family historians with specific topics or skills they wish to learn about

Varies, but can include:
• Using specific genealogy programs
• Chart design and layout
• Historical research

Will depend on topic and your needs. Talk to us about your requirements

Glyde-in short courses

Maximum of 12 participants in week one, two sessions of six people each in week two

Beginners, or those who have done a little research and are stuck. Note: basic computer skills are necessary for week two.

Week one: the basics of family history research and develop a research plan.

Week two: hands-on practice on the computers

Two days @ two hours each. Check with Glyde-in Centre for schedule and pricing; recent classes were $40 plus $10 for materials
